Why are Filipino Names Spanish? #shorts

Why are Filipino Names Spanish? Juan, Jose, Pedro, just like common in names in Spain and other Hispanic countries. So, how did this happen? Philippines was occupied by Spain for more than 300 years. Filipino culture adopted many Spanish words into the native vocabulary, as the Spaniards performed all sorts of activity using Latin and Spanish languages. Early Filipinos who were Christianized were also given Spanish surnames and on November 21, 1849, Governor General Narciso Claveria implemented a systematic Spanish naming system for Filipino names. Of course, these are the Filipino names that we typically know, but you’ll be surprised that there are many parts in the Philippines that is not completely influenced by the Spaniards. Meaning of course, unique names!

Was Narciso Claveria a Peninsular, a criollo, or a mestizo? meaning,
was he fresh out of Spain, grew up in Spain, and lived in Philippines for some part of his life,
was he of noble Spanish education but was born and grew up Spanish in the Philippines,
or was he of mostly Spanish descent with some native Filipino in him, raised upper middle class in the Spanishzised Filipino culture from many time ago?
