Politics in the Philippines is the worst, those Barangay Officials are just adding up to corruption and are the reason why vote buying is rampant in the Philippines. Corruption is a cancer in the Philippine society that's why poverty is everywhere.

Good day my friend. I am a Security Guard. Only people who work as Security Guard in the Philippines for at least 2-3 years in different establisments (Private or Government) and Security Agencies giving minimum and below minimum wages. We are working sometimes 36 hours, 48 hours or more straight duty because of shotage of security guards. They will pay us underpaid usually with this Over Time becuase of corruption practices. We don't have day-offs. It's a modern day slavery. We always experienced insults from arrogant people (local or from other countries). If you can smile while people is throwing insults on you, then that gent or lady is a security guard 😅

This YouTuber starts who knocks down the Philippines while savoring the genuine hospitality of its people and relishing the country's natural beauty starts off his video being concerned with his "safety". Nothing wrong with that except it is right away a biased and unbalanced approach. Compared to what country – Canada? The US, Canada or maybe your heritage country like Iran, Jordan, Syria. Again the Philippines is a free, democratic country rapidly emerging from its developing status (it will take awhile, maybe 10 years) into another Asian Tiger. Again, as previously mentioned, it is a country with 114 million half of them under 25 years and many of them well educated – maybe more educated than the this biased YouTuber. Let us a go back to safety. To be sure in the huge Metro Manila area with 13.5 million people (Los Angeles metro has 12.5 million) there will be incidences of crime especially in the densely population low income areas. There are many places in LA, New York, Toronto that would not be safe for a tourist to stay at. There are neighborhoods in those cities that are low-income areas where drug dealing is rampant. This is typical of big cities teeming with people. So if this biased YouTuber is concerned about his safety he should stay away from such areas. Millions of people around the world visit the Philippines each and enjoy its pristine beaches and the people's hospitality and generally not too concerned about their safety. This short-stature YouTuber (his own admission) and really does not look like a Filipino (while he claims he does) might be mistaken however for an illegal from another country and gets mugged if he goes to the wrong area. There are hundreds of YouTubers who make money covering the Philippines – its people, its food, its burgeoning infrastructure improvements, culture – generally don't start off the YouTube violence being concerned for their safety. But this biased YouTuber does. I would if you are freaked out about your safety, while millions of tourists who visit the country are generally no, then stay out. Take the Philippines off your list. It seems the country and its friendly people will be better off without you!

You are way off. Check you facts. The Philippines is not a developing country (which for some reason it seems you might think means 3rd world country.The economy of the Philippines is an emerging market, and considered as a newly industrialized country in the Asia-Pacific region. He lives in two wealthy nations and he has a culture shock in the Philippines. Why don't you go to some of the rural poor counties of Mississippi, the poorest state in the US, maybe you'll have a culture shock there too. Unbelievable! He thinks, by his insinuation, most people live as they do in Canada and Japan. Why you never watch any foreign movies where the backdrop are the countries with teeming population and many people live in poverty like India, Pakistan, Egypt, Bangladesh, maybe even the country where your parents came from? There are many rural areas in the Philippines where the people get their water from wells and live off the land and sea. The country has 36,289 kilometers (22,549 miles) of coastline which makes the country with the 5th longest coastline in the world. So of course people will live off the sea . And you have a culture shock with that. Get real man or get out of the country.

PART 1 – Not sure what this Youtuber's agenda is. For sure he is making money knocking down the Philippines, showcasing its faults while taking advantage of the innate hospitality of the people and the natural beauty of this 7000 island archipelado. On the flip side this Youtuber, it seems , can't say enough good things about Japan (think he is married to a Japanese and/or may it would affect his Japanese visa if he bad mouths the country.)
Let me put some perspective for you: the Philippines, the only Christian democratic country is Asia (your head-over-hills country is Buddhist), has 114 million people and growing, half of its population is below 25 years old and relatively well educated, it has over 7000 islands, about 20 typhoons hits the country every year (typhoons are the equivalent of hurricanes in the US.) accompanied by major flooding. Yes, there are infrastructure projects galore to control those flooding, clear up the clogged rivers. Unfortunely, the Philippines is one of the world's most disaster-prone countries. Located along the boundary of major tectonic plates and at the center of a typhoon belt, its islands are regularly impacted by floods, typhoons, landslides, earthquakes, volcanoes, and droughts. Despite all these calamities the people have learned to be resilient, flexible and adaptable.
Speaking of infrastructure, there are billions of dollars worth of roads, bridges and other projects designed to ease traffic congestion and facilitate the commerce (the transport of goods from the fields or warehouse to the market)
Maybe the democratic institutions that it inherited from the US create an unwanted by-product of corruption and nepotism. The country has to live it and try to continue to do better – but it will never be a communist country or run by a dictator (they already tried that once and it failed through People Power.)
So do you have formula for managing a country with that many (young and relatively educated) people? It is estimated that the country's economy will grow 5.7% this year 2024 – that is one of the highest in Asia. It seems you are inadvertently comparing the Philippines to Japan. Maybe someday some parts of the will find its way in the Philippines. Like it or not the Philippines will continue to be a melting pot of other cultures, despite its faults, many of its beaches and natural beauty are unmatched and tourists enjoy them at a fraction of the cost, plus there is no language barrier (almost every speak or can understand english) so communication is not an issue and people are just naturally hospitable and friendly.
Unfortunately many people – like this Youtuber – mistake it as a sign of weakness and complacency and take advantage of the country and its people by maligning them to fuel their YouTube money-making pursuit. If you don't like the country or its people, get out and don't come back. It seems your Japan YouTube video viewerships are declining and you have to venture out. That is ok, but don't be a predator. You know someone who will suck up the people's hospitality while knocking them down behind their back to increase YouTube viewership. Not sure what to call people like you – Hypocrite? Predator?
You indicated you are Canadian, you sure don't look like Canadian but who does? You look like middle eastern. Canada has become a melting pot too. You indicated you are short in stature. Nothing wrong with that. Your strategy of finding fault in a country (are there also slums in your native or parent's country, is it Iran, is it Syria, Jordan, no such thing as a faultless country) and not also highlighting its positive to have a balanced presentation is not sustainable. We hope you realize that!

I was born in Philippines but I’m grateful to live in USA since 1980 I’ve seen how Philippines government governs and I won’t criticize because I might be criticize too! It’s you to come up with what you think life the real one not in a city that has all the modernization it’s all in the country side where you’ll see the real story! Good luck brother!

Thailand is a much better, cleaner and safer place. The PI is the wild west. Guns crime and criminals everywhere. You american walking ATMs are not safe there. The presence of armed security guards everywhere even Dunkin Donuts should tell you that.
