I spent 4 weeks in Philippines and would never go again. It has an amazing nature but you can never find peace around. You will always be disturbed by taxi drivers and other sellers severely. They call you “sir” but they have no respect. They will surround you at every turn. Some of them were trying to convince me to take taxi by taking my baggage from my hands to taxi! And when you get rough because of such reasons, you will reveal their true colors behind their smiling face. That was the first time I used the taxi without Uber-like app in Manila and I got threatened to pay 9 times more than normal price. I observed many times that women generally take picture or record before taking a taxi. Even their own people never feel safe. Even on the biggest streets, supermarkets hire security guards. I received electric shock in 3-star Agoda preferred hotel in Makati, the most luxury district in Manila. Hotels have no comfort in some touristic towns like El Nido, Panglao, Oslob etc. I mean, you may even not find water in faucet!. One of the most popular beach of Bohol, Alona Beach was in full of seaweed. How come they don’t clear such place?
Long story short, it is not a good country if you are looking for to take mental rest in holiday. For the people who look for detective and mystery films-like adventure, this is the best option.
