  • Puto bumbong is traditionally made with purple sticky rice. The variety is called pirirutong.

    I guess since that rice variety is not being grown as much as before they now use sticky rice and ube for purple colorant.

  • Puto bumbong is not made from ube! it's made from purple rice (that's why you won't get any of the yam flavor)
